Trusted Brand Broadcast System™
Guide consumers to legitimate, safe sites
The MarkMonitor® Trusted Brand Broadcast System™ (TBBS) lets brand owners instantly advise Internet users on the reputation of the sites they choose to visit – augmenting enforcement efforts, building additional consumer trust, and impeding the efforts of potential fraudsters and other infringers.
With TBBS, brand owners can quickly warn of sites engaged in potentially unlawful practices – from the selling of counterfeit, pirated and recalled goods to cybersquatting, phishing and malware distribution – in such a way that Internet users see the warnings before they reach those sites. Just as importantly, brand owners can reassure users that they’re dealing with legitimate, safe company-owned and authorized partner websites.
TBBS offers two components:
- Brandcasting, which enables major Internet security providers to communicate a website’s reputation—good or bad—directly to Internet users.
- Fraudcasting, which leverages the extensive MarkMonitor network of Internet security and browser partners to automatically block user access to phish and malware distribution sites that are verified by the MarkMonitor Security Operations Center.
TBBS Highlights:
- Instills consumer confidence in your brand and its online presence by warning or reassuring consumers, when they visit a website
- Speeds and enhances enforcement efforts, such as C&D letters and takedown notices, producing a near-immediate impact on infringing sites
- Protects revenues by steering traffic to legitimate properties and away from unauthorized or fraudulent sites
- Directly influences consumer behavior by enabling brand owners to directly communicate guidance on website trustworthiness
- Helps reduce overall online fraud, increasingly weakening infringers’ ability to carry out abuse online
For most consumers it’s virtually impossible to tell whether or not they’ve found you, your authorized partners, or your authentic goods online. Too often, traffickers often dealing in counterfeit and pirated goods – or likely fraudsters grasping at pay-per-click revenues – lure customers away from legitimate sites. Customers can end up buying inferior goods, viewing offensive content, or be robbed of their confidential information in phish attacks or through other fraudulent sites.
These online exploits can erode brand confidence, revenues, and the willingness to do business with your brand online. Customer loyalty suffers, customer service costs rise, and legal issues can arise from health or safety issues associated with bogus goods sold online.
Fortunately, with TBBS MarkMonitor customers can now tackle these problems more quickly, by providing end users with guidance toward trusted sites – and away from infringing sites – while other enforcement measures play out.
TBBS is an optional enhancement to MarkMonitor Domain Management, Brand Protection and AntiFraud Solutions. The brandcasting and fraudcasting components may be used singly or in tandem.
How brandcasting works. The MarkMonitor network of Internet security partners post intuitive green (legitimate), yellow (caution) and red (fraudulent) site reputation ratings leveraging classification information provided by brand owners. These ratings are delivered to Internet users, who have the desktop security application installed, in search engine results and browser direct-navigation URL bars.
How fraudcasting works. MarkMonitor sends confirmed phishing and malware site URLs to key industry partners, who implement blocking and content filtering measures, preventing both browser display and the delivery of email messages containing the URLs.
Works while other enforcement measures take effect. With TBBS on the job, brand owners can effectively disarm infringing websites, without the need to wait for transgressors or their ISPs to act. And, most importantly, they can provide direct, immediate assistance to consumers who want to do business with their brands online.
