Last year, we worked with Europol on ‘Operation In Our Sites Seven (IOS VII)’. The operation focused on tackling counterfeit websites selling luxury goods, sportswear, spare parts, electronics, pharmaceuticals, toiletries and other fake products, as well as piracy sites.
Law enforcement authorities from 27 countries, anti-counterfeiting associations and brand owner representatives participated in this huge coordinated operation.
Our participation in the program enabled us to take down over 230 websites for our clients and provided a powerful alternative to tackle those infringing sites that our standard enforcement options could not resolve.
We are now in the process of preparing for IOS VIII and selecting sites that fit the criteria established by Europol. This process takes approximately two months and requires of the involvement of our brand protection and anti-piracy teams. There will be a second round of submissions in August this year.
The Operation officially ends on November 27th, 2017. A final report will then be prepared by Europol which includes the number of site takedowns, value of goods seized and individuals prosecuted.
The feedback from clients last year was extremely positive and the results showcased how important it is to form close ties with our partners in law enforcement to help bridge the gap between online and offline enforcement.
