TLD News

The Thai Registry is re-launching 2nd level .TH domain names beginning immediately through June 5, 2017. Previously, the .TH extension was restricted to IDN characters only. THNIC is now allowing ASCII characters for .TH domain names. Second level .TH domain names are reserved for the existing .CO.TH domain name owners. If a .CO.TH domain name is not currently registered, the .TH domain name request will be treated as Open Registration and will require a Thai trademark or Thai company. All applied for .TH domain names will be awarded on June 12, 2017.

.STORAGE has been acquired by a new Registry, XYZ.com LLC. As part of this acquisition, XYZ has set new launch phases for this TLD and is increasing the cost.

General Availability for .STORAGE was previously scheduled to start in July, but the new launch phases are now expected to begin in November. Landrush should begin November 7, 2017 and end November 28, 2017. General Availability should begin on November 28, 2017, and Early Access Program (EAP) should run from November 28, 2017 to December 5, 2017.

DotHealth, LLC (.HEALTH)

The TMCH Sunrise Period for .HEALTH began May 8, 2017 and is expected to end July 7, 2017. Domains will be awarded at the end of Sunrise and an auction will be held for those domains where multiple applications are received. The Sunrise application fee is non-refundable and will be applied upon submission of a sunrise domain application.

Following the end of the Sunrise Period there will be a Landrush/Industry Access Period (IAP). The IAP is scheduled to begin July 20, 2017 and is expected to end November 30, 2017. The IAP is open to any person or entity with a bona fide connection to the health industry as determined by Registry Operator in its sole discretion. All Registrants during the IAP must have a valid registration token issued by the Registry. Each token is valid for one domain only, however approved applicants may request additional tokens.

General Availability (GA) is scheduled to begin December 5, 2017. Domains are unrestricted and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. However, for all phases, Registrants must follow the below guidelines.

  • Privacy/proxy registrations are permitted except for online pharmacies
  • All live sites, other than those that are parked, must use an SSL certificate
  • Any online pharmacy site selling prescription drugs online must be certified by Legitscript
  • Sites providing clinical data must cite their sources
  • All sites must provide at least one contact method

The Sunrise Phase for .AFRICA began on April 4, 2017 and is expected to end on June 2, 2017. During this period, applicants will need a Signed Mark Data (SMD) file to register an .AFRICA domain. This is an end-date Sunrise with domains being allocated at the end of the Sunrise phase. If more than one Sunrise Application is made for the same domain name during Sunrise, the Application with the highest priority ranking for its Mark will be successful. An auction will be held for those domains where multiple applicants were received and have equal priority ranking.

Following the end of the Sunrise Period there will be a Landrush Period in four phases. Each phase of the Landrush Period has a different one-time fee; please see your Client Service Manager for pricing.

  • Phase 1: June 5-9, 2017
  • Phase 2: June 12-16, 2017
  • Phase 3: June 19-23, 2017
  • Phase 4: June 26- 30, 2017

General Availability (GA) is scheduled to begin on July 4, 2017 and will be first-come-first-served. The cost of .AFRICA during GA will decrease after the first 28 days – on August 2, 2017, and then will decrease a second time after 333 days on July 1, 2018.
