Domain Name abuse and misuse have been hot topics among domain industry players of late. Markmonitor has attended a number of recent events where DNS Abuse has been a focus of discussion so now we are taking things up a notch!

With our peers from the DNS Research Federation (DNSRF) and Spamhaus we are hosting our first webinar on DNS Abuse on August 20, 2024 — but with a twist. Putting on our best football commentator hats, we will analyze TLD Abuse rates of country code Top-Level Domains (ccTLDs) like they were your favorite sports club, moving up and down the standings.

The DNSRF has crafted a competitive view of TLD Providers, spotlighting best practices and effective management of domain misuse called The League Table. This tool encourages healthy competition across all TLDs by calculating the number of domain name registrations, then looking at the abuse reports, and formulating a percentage or “score” based on those figures. This competitive view promotes incentives beyond just “finger-pointing” for registries to create a safer Internet ecosystem for us all — making it into a sport!

In our webinar we will augment the League Table results with reputation statistics and anecdotes from Spamhaus to give you a broad picture of what is happening with DNS Abuse in the domain space, while having some fun with all the sports clichés!

To dive deeper into the League Table, statistics, and our commentary, we invite you to join our upcoming webinar – to sign up, click here.

We look forward to sharing the research, rankings, and insights in detail from leaders in the technical, policy, and intellectual policy spaces so that you too can cheer on your favorite registry and learn how they score.

Until then, we’ll see you on the domain pitch!
